Shifts in Voter Alliance Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections in Jubarajnagar
Dharmanagar, Apr 23, 2024, TRIPURATIMES Desk
Dharmanagar April 23: With barely few hours left for an end to the campaign in Tripura’s East Parliamentary Constituency, political dynamics in Jubarajnagar assembly constituency has undergone significant changes. The Left Front, once a formidable force, is witnessing defections, leaving its future uncertain.
In a surprising turn of events, 111 voters from 27 families in Booth No. 1 of the Jubarajnagar assembly constituency have severed ties with the Left Front. Their long-standing allegiance has shifted to the Lotus camp, signalling a seismic shift in local politics. Among these voters is state CITU leader Sanjit Malakar, whose parting ways with the red camp, underscores the erosion of the Left Front’s support base.
In the previous assembly election, the ruling party BJP secured 30 out of 180 votes in this region. However, this time, expectations are high that the BJP will significantly outpace the Left Front’s vote bank. The party’s development initiatives, spearheaded by the Modi government, have resonated with the electorate, prompting a wave of defections from other opposition camps.
At a joining meeting held on Tuesday, North district BJP president Kajal Das and Jubarajnagar centre in-charge, BJP leader Dr. Tamojit Nath were present.
As the electoral battle intensifies, all eyes are on the outcome. Will the BJP’s momentum prevail, or can the Left Front stage a comeback? Only time will reveal the exceptional result that awaits Jubarajnagar in the upcoming polls.
